As part of environmental responsibility, in 2021 Surfside’s ASADA assumes the coordination of Ecological Blue Flag Committee of Potrero Beach, formed by Marina Development Group, Bahía del Sol Hotel, Flamingo Coast Guards, Alpha Company and Municipality of Santa Cruz.
The committee’s objective is maintaining the excellence in the hygienic and sanitary conditions of the beach, through an annual work plan in which different aspects are evaluated by the Costa Rican Institute of Tourism, such as the quality of water from the sea, quality of water for human consumption, organic waste, presence of garbage cans on the beach, environmental education, reforestation campaigns, solid waste management, safety, among others.
The committee annually sends to ICT the final work report and ICT gives the award and the flag to the Beach with the obtained stars.
